The American Bald Eagles have returned to their nest on Highway 29 just west of Buchanan Dam. It is an adult male and female that will lay 2-3 eggs that typically hatch around the first of January. They will raise their young until mid-late April and then head north for cooler weather. The nest is close to the road and is perfect for nature watching of all kinds. To get there, head west on Hwy 29 from Fuzzy's Corner in Buchanan (Hwy 29 and Ranch Road 1431 ) 6.2 miles and the nest is on the left. You will see a group of no parking signs on both sides of the street and there will be two pull-over areas to park in. The dirt pull-over is where the nest is. I had the good fortune when I was there to park next to Jim Baines who is a retired professional photographer. He was kind enough to send a slideshow to use on the website. Thank you Jim!
