Register below!!! February 13-16th spend time in your favorite places watching birds—then tell us about them! In as little as 15 minutes - or as long as you'd like - notice the birds around you. Identify them, count them, and submit your counts to help scientists better understand and protect birds around the world. If you already use eBird or Merlin, your submissions over the 4 days count toward GBBC. Read below for How to Participate.

How to Participate
Step 2: Decide where you will watch birds.
Step 3: Watch birds for 15 minutes or more, at least once over the four days, February 13–16, 2026.
Step 4: Identify all the birds you see or hear within your planned time/location and use the best tool for sharing your bird sightings:
Step 5: Drop by the Lake Buchanan/Inks Lake Chamber of Commerce at 19611 E Texas Highway 29 in Buchanan Dam and check in - Friday, February 13th through Monday, February 16th. Hot coffee will be available for a $5 donation to the Chamber. Or sign-up for the entire four-day event for $15 and get unlimited stop-ins, hot coffee, access to a clean bathroom and warm place to relax!
Please note that we are hosting a Valentine's/Galentine's Day Event from 11 AM to 5 PM at the Chamber/Visitor Center. You are welcome to stop by but please be respectful to those attending the event. Thank you!

- If you are a beginning bird admirer and new to bird identification, try using the Merlin Bird ID app to tell us what birds you are seeing or hearing.
- If you have participated in the count before and want to record numbers of birds, try the eBird Mobile app or enter your bird list on the eBird website (desktop/laptop).
- Or download the Lake Buchanan/Inks Lake Chamber of Commerce Area Bird Count Checklist and drop it off at the Lake Buchanan/Inks Lake Chamber of Commerce and Visitor Center to be counted in the Chamber bird count. Our area includes east and west Lake Buchanan, Tow, Bluffton, all of Buchanan Dam, Inks Lake, Park Road 4, and Hoover Valley!
