Eagle Nest at Buchanan Dam
This Bald Eagle nest is visible from our Chamber Visitor Center observation deck! Binoculars, spotting scope or good telephoto lens recommended. This pair has nested for several years between the Inks Lake Hwy 29 bridge and Buchanan Dam. They built a new nest in 2018 which can be viewed from a distance. Please note, the nest is on LCRA private property and NOT accessible by the public. A special thanks to Harry Keil for all of these photos!

First Bald Eagle sighting of the Fall, 9/15/19.
The first sighting in 2019 of a Bald Eagle near our Visitor Center occurred just before sunrise Sunday September 15, 2019. The eagles have returned to a nest they constructed in 2018 and is located just below Buchanan Dam. Please keep in mind the nest is located on LCRA property and is not accessible by the public. The observation deck behind the Visitor Center does offer a line of sight to where the nest is located along with an excellent view of Buchanan Dam. Good binoculars, spotting scopes, or strong camera lenses are recommended. A special thanks and credit to Harry Keil for the sighting and another great photo.
Additional photos sent to us by Nasos taken from the observation deck. Both eagles on and next to the nest in center of images.
Additional photos taken March 13, 2019. Two eaglets are on the nest. Thanks again to Harry Keil for these great photos!
