LLANO COUNTY PRESS RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE DISTRIBUTION OFFICE OF LLANO COUNTY JUDGE February 22, 2021
February 2021 Winter Storm
Llano, TX- 6:00 PM-
On February 12, 2021 Governor Greg Abbott declared a state of disaster in all 254 counties based on the threat of severe winter weather which posed an imminent threat of widespread and severe property damage, injury, and loss of life due to prolonged freezing temperatures, heavy snow, and freezing rain statewide.
On February 14, 2021 Governor Abbott announced the White House had issued a Federal Emergency Declaration for Texas in response to the severe winter weather throughout the state. This Federal Emergency Declaration authorized the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to provide emergency protective measures for mass care and sheltering and Direct Federal Assistance for all 254 counties in Texas.
“It is important for our residents to understand that the original response from FEMA only qualified Llano County for limited Public Assistance relief for mass care and sheltering during the storm,” said Llano County Judge Ron Cunningham, “Now, as our residents recover from this brutal weather, we need all residents and business owner’s assistance in ensuring Llano County qualifies for Individual Assistance which will be provided by FEMA and made directly to eligible individuals and families who have sustained losses due to this disaster.”
To meet the Individual Assistance threshold, home and business owners of Llano County are urged to complete the Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM) “Self-Reporting Damage Survey” to help the state identify damages across Texas and help emergency management officials gain an understanding of damages that occurred during the recent winter weather. This data is also needed to provide information to FEMA and highlight the need for federal disaster assistance for individuals in Llano County.
The voluntary survey, (available in both English and Spanish), can be accessed by visiting: www.TDEM.texas.gov/warm or scan the barcode
Reporting damage to the Texas Division of Emergency Management is a voluntary activity, is not a substitute for reporting damage to an insurance agency, and does not guarantee disaster relief assistance. Even if you have insurance you are still encouraged to fill this survey out. It reflects all the damages that Llano County had in the past weeks.
If you are unable to report these damages due to not having internet abilities, please contact the Llano County Emergency Management office at 325.247.2039, they will be able to assist you.
For additional information regarding the Disaster Declaration, please contact Emergency Management Coordinator- Gilbert Bennett at 325-247-2039 or email at: gbennett@co.llano.tx.us
